A little more simpler than I'd imagined but if you have a future scientist like us, he or she will love it. He's already measured the rain we got right after the holiday. Very neat.

My daughter was very dissapointed in her weather station. It was 'cheesy' she said. She wishes she would not have wasted her hard earned money on something that does not really work.

The weather station kit was a fun challenge for my son and I to assemble. The directions are well written and the exploded picture was easy for my 8-year-old son to read and follow. The weather station itself is made of a light weight molded plastic and I would have liked to see a heavier plastic used. We plan to set the weather station out in the spring (so the parts don't freeze during the winter) and we'll see how it holds up then. Otherwise, this is a good kit to explore the different measurement devices and talk about how scientists look at weather.
