One of the biggest awards in the board game industry, the Spiel des Jahres, has been awarded to MindWare’s Qwirkle! The Spiel des Jahres, Germany’s “Game of the Year” award, was announced on Tuesday, June 27.

Qwirkle is one of MindWare’s most awarded games of all time, having won the Parents’ Choice Gold Award, the Mensa Select Award, the Major Fun Award and now the Spiel des Jahres! This family game is as simple as matching colors and shapes, but also requires tactical maneuvers and well-planned strategy. Earn points by building rows and columns of blocks that share a common shape or color. Look for opportunities to score big by placing a tile that touches multiple pieces with matching attributes. The player with the most points wins!
