We purchased this for our son's 5th birthday. He has enjoyed playing with it some, however, it is his 3 yo and 6 yo brothers who have played with it the most. My 3 yo has not really been able to follow the pattern pages provided, but made his own patterns and designs that we are supposed to 'guess' what he made. My 6 yo has had tons of fun making the designs from the cards. He has also enjoyed using the other tools besides the drill. The age ranges on this product are ideal.

My 5year old loves this! It's great for following patterns and also for creativity. I would say that it's not appropriate for a 3-year old...my other son will be 3 in six weeks and it's definetly not something that he could handle. The age range probably should be 4-6.

I bought 3 of these for 6yr. old girl, and boys 5 and 4. They all enjoyed them. Sometimes they used the patterns and sometimes made their own. Drill seems like it will hold up for a long time as long as that little screw doesn't strip! Can't go wrong with this one.

Excellent toy! My boys love this toy. They will sit for 30 minutes playing with this. I love that there are so many different teaching possibilities; ie... colors, counting, shapes, forward, backwards, in verses out...... Every day we focus on something different so it's new and exciting each time we play. This is one of the favorite toys in our home.

I purchased this for my son,age 2. It was his favorite xmas present. He can easily use the battery powered drill and and loves that it really works (isn't just pretend like other tool kits). Right now he doesn't understand the color/design cards or the wrench, but it gives more ways to play with it as he gets older.

This drill was purchased as a birthday gift for a 4 yr. old boy. His 3 year old sister wanted to play too, then came along the nine year old boy. They all played with it differently. Enjoying putting screws in and then unscrewing them. Good for small finger dexterity, making designs. Learning righty tighty, lefty lucy. A big hit!

I am a pre-k teacher and have used this toy in my classroom for the past 5 years. This toy can be enjoyed on many differendt levels. It is wonderful for developing fine motor skills and of course the drill is very popular! I have seen children follow the colorful pattern cards and some children create designs of their own!

I bought the Design and Drill for my three year old since he enjoys tools. He loves using the screws and changes the drill bits. He needs help using the cards, which we call 'plans' but the toy is still new. The plans teach colors, patterns and counting.

This product was purchased as a Christmas present for my four year old grandson. As a teacher of young children, I was delighted to see all the positive learning that accompanied the 'play'. He was reinforcing color, numbers, patterns, counting, spatial awareness, and just plain fun. He worked at it with great enthusiasm and even had help from his seven year old brother, who participated eagerly. Great fun and lots of learning as well.

My 3 year old played with this toy more than any other on Christmas morning. He has spent over 30 minutes on numerous occasions drilling and filling the entire board with screws. My 11-year-old son has Down syndrome. Usually with toys like this he might play with it once and then decides to throw small parts around his room. Not this one. It's a hit! This is a fabulous toy! My 3 year old LOVES it!! It is great for eye/hand, fine motor and creativity. It keeps him busy forever and my 5 year old loves it too. My only issue was that the first day he got it (Christmas) he dropped the drill and the drill was done. I just ordered 2 replacements. The drill is what makes it fun!!

My four year old son took right to this making patterns, using the different bits, etc. My 2 year old was also interested and learned how to use the drill. He will put the bolt in the hole and my older son will screw it in. Good team building toy as well.

Bought this for my 6 year old son. He is enjoying the toy very much. He likes using the tools (especially the electric drill) to attach the plastic bolts to the board. Creating the various designs however remains secondary to him compared to the pure pleasure he gets from using the tools. I highly recommend this toy for both boys and girls.

I purchased the activity center for my 4-year old daughter who has a short attention span. The toy is a very cool concept and well made; however, I have to stay with her so that she sticks with it. After making a picture, I recommend taking the pegs out of the board before putting it up. Otherwise the child's enthusiasm to use the toy will be spent on taking the pegs out instead of making a picture.
